Betsy participated in several major Chicago art exhibitions during the 1930's including many at the Art Institute. Her work was also selected to represent the city of Chicago in a group exhibition that took place at the Whitney Museum, New York in 1933. A few of the other artists included in this exhibition were Louis Ritman, Boris Anisfeld, and Grant Wood (American Gothic was exhibited). She was married to the artist Hans Werner, and the two of them had quite an interesting history between them.
