Betsy Hancock (XX) American; "Figural Abstract", 1966, oil on board

A dynamic and vibrant work by listed Chicago/ Santa Fe artist Betsy Hancock, painted in 1966. Betsy participated in several major Chicago art exhibitions during the 1930's including many at the Art Institute. Her work was also selected to represent the city of Chicago in a group exhibition that took place at the Whitney Museum, New York in 1933. A few of the other artists included in this exhibition were Louis Ritman, Boris Anisfeld, and Grant Wood (American Gothic was exhibited). She was married to the artist Hans Werner, and the two of them had quite an interesting history between them. Feel free to contact the gallery for additional information pertaining to Hans Werner and Betsy Hancock. Please note: One of the images of the painting was taken in natural light (direct sunlight) in order to demonstrate the color variations.
