Charles Ferdinand Ceramano, pen name of Charles Ferdinand Semain, been born on May 31st, 1831 in Tielt (West Flanders, (Belgium). Landscape and animal painter Ceramano studied with Charles Jacque, whose influence he undergoes completely up to the point to marry totally his style. Charles Ferdinand Ceramano was a specialist of the herds of sheeps and the inside of sheepfold.
He worked during forty years in Barbizon and exhibited to the Show of the French Artists in 1893, 1895 and 1897.
Charles Ferdinand Ceramano was the last sedentary painter of Barbizon by acquiring the house of his teacher Charles Emile Jacque. As Théodore Rousseau (1867) and Jean-François Millet (1875) he died in Barbizon on April 22nd, 1909 in Barbizon (France)
