Cape Anne harbor scene by Maurice King Burns
This oil on canvas painting of Gloucester harbor is unsigned but comes to us through the estate of the Burns family in Old Greenwich Connecticut and is attributed to him. Maurice Burns was born in 1897 and started painting in 1930. His output was mostly landscapes and seascapes in New England. He died in 1950 but most of his paintings were lost in a fire at his New York studio shortly thereafter. This unfortunate circumstance makes his existing work more precious. The frame is a period frame but may not be the original. Our Item # 12494
