Helen Lundeberg (1908-1999) American; "Untitled", 1957, an original double sided painting
An important, transitional period oil on panel by the very well listed California artist Helen Lundeberg; one side painted with a 'post-Surrealist' composition and the other with a geometric abstraction. I believe that this work was created around the period when Lundeberg began to transition from Post-Surreal (PS) paintings and into the realm of Geometric Abstraction (GA). The painting is signed on the PS side 'Lundeberg' and also on the back of the frame. It's also dated '1957' and titled illegibly. The GA side is in very good condition, but the PS side is in need of restoration if it's to be properly brought back to life. The frame, which is original to the painting, is in need of some restoration as well. A rare and important work by an artist whose paintings are increasing tremendously in value and popularity.
