"The Silver Note - Poland" by Takuya Tsukahara, Gelatin Silver Photograph, 1976
A little girl stands on the road before a grand cathedral in this photograph by Japanese photographer Takuya Tsukahara. Tsukahara took this photograph in Poland; instead of focusing on the cathedral, he focuses on the little girl as the main subject, placing her in the foreground and making her the same size as the church. In her hands she clutches a piece of paper folded into a fan-shape and a curly-haired doll. Tsukahara first studied in Japan, but thanks to a grant in the mid-70s was able to go to Poland where he made a name for himself as a photographer. This gelatin silver print was create in 1981, stamped and titled, and is offered unframed.
