"Unafraid" by Rowena Fruth, Gelatin Silver Photograph, c. 1940
Two children mirror each other in this photograph from the 1940s by American photographer Rowena Fruth. The two children appear identical, with their hair cascading over each other and posed in such a way as to make their faces the focal point. Rowena Fruth (1896-1983) was a black-and-white photographer, known for work with miniature cameras. Her images became internationally renowned, impressive given that she was a female photographer who was only active in the 1940s, mainly 1940 to 1945. In 1943, the American Annual of Photography named her for most successful exhibitor of photography that year. This gelatin silver print is offered unframed.
