In "New York IV", American photographer Berenice Abbott captures everyday life in New York city in a series of 12 photographs in this portfolio from 1979. Abbott (1898-1991) worked with surrealist photographer Man Ray in Paris, but returned in 1929 to photograph New York City with funding from the Works Progress Administration (WPA). From the 1930s on, she often photographed working class urban communities.
