A beautiful statue of a hindu God guarding a Brahman Cow made of antique ivory. The sculpture standing on a dark wood round pedestal. The ivory is all carefully hand carved, spectacularly rendered, even to the most minute bead and earring detail. The ivory has a nice milky color, and the sculpture is in perfect condition. The Brahma God is usually depicted with 4 arms, or 4 heads, each of which recites or interprets one Veda, the sacred text for Hinduism. In one hand he holds a water pot, representing the life force, in another he holds a trident, and another what appears to be a horn, and the last arm is reaching towards the Brahma cow, a special breed of cow that is born in India, and is their representative animal. The Hindu God Brahma is one of the three main Hindu Gods and part of the Hindu Trimurti of Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma. Brahma is often credited as the creator of the universe and various beings in it.
