French Art Deco Period Rosewood Eiffel Tower Model

List Price $5,338

Impressive French Art Deco period Eiffel Tower made of rosewood. The sleek lines of Art Deco are perfectly realized in this model of the Eiffel Tower that includes horizontal straps of silvered metal around the lower sections. The tower stands upon two square bases, a smaller base set upon a slightly larger one with corners fitted with silver metal mounts. But it is the elegant sweep of the four corners of the tower that truly capture the eye. The openings formed by the arches are meticulously recreated in this model and the entire structure follows the proportions of the original tower. The top of the tower has a slender finial of carved and ebonized wood to complete the entire piece.

" Gustave Eiffel, created an amazingly beautiful structure that is not only an engineering marvel from the 19th Century but also an artistic achievement for the 1889 Exposition Universelle. The astoundingly balanced curved sections, made of open girders of cast iron in the actual towers, are here depicted in wood sheathed in gorgeously grained rosewood that has been laid with the grain pattern running horizontally around each surface.
