Erte, Bamboo, Bronze Sculpture
Bamboo is prime example of Erte's later Art Deco works; using the traditional medium of Bronze; here he depicts a svelte women bedecked head to toe in an elaborate costume. Raised among the Russian social elite, Erte moved to Paris at 18 to start his career and took the name Erte from the French pronunciation of his initials, RT. He is well-known for his fashion magazine covers, but he is also credited as having reinvigorated the Art Deco movement when he was in his 70s. This bronze sculpture is inscribed with Erte's signature and numbered on the base.
