Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne (1704-1778) French; "Bust of a Young Girl", Carrara Marble
A very finely carved 18th c. marble bust of a young girl attributed to Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne, although unsigned. The work came from a Los Angeles collection where it has been for nearly a century, and according to the family lore it was purchased as an original work by Lemoyne. The quality is nothing short of superb, and the subject and execution is very consistent with other works by the artist.
