19th Century Marble Bust of the Virgin Mary

Here is a wonderful marble bust of the blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of Jesus. She is a whitish marble carved out of 1 piece of marble. Her soft face depicts the Virgin Mary. She has 2 carved open gaps between her hair and veil. Notice her tailed carved eyes, and her sculpted flowing curly hair under her veil. She has a carved marking of AVE, found in the center on the piece. AVE stands for Roman Catholic church - for Ave Maria. This is a signed piece, possibly V. Pochery. She sits on a separate cut piece of wood that follows the sculpture all the way around. The statue is 15" tall , 9 1/2 wide, and 18" depth. The base comes off her and it is 17 3/4" across and about 3 inches high. I found her in Lyon, France from a lovely lady.
