19th Century Georgian Tortoiseshell Case
This little elegant tortoiseshell case dates back to the Georgian era, circa 1840, when tortoiseshell was a luxury material that was used to construct many decorative personal items. This case opens and clicks shut, is in great shape for its age. It has a really stunning variety of colors, a soft blonde to a deep orange brown. It has a very beautiful old feel and color. The shell has a really nice polish to it, and the silver has a nice patina. There is a coat of arms decoration on the lid of case, which is made of embedded silver and gives it a nice touch. It is a soft silver empty space which leaves room for a personalized monogram. The hinge on the case is in perfect working condition, and the interior lining in fabric, although quite old is still very beautiful, remains intact, and has a nice blue color to it. The case measures 3 by 2 by 3/4 inches. It fits perfectly in your hand, and feels great when held. It is really the perfect size for a carrying case, a portable pill box, or a container to carry any small items. It makes a very elegant gift.
