This charming rabbit figural from the 1930’s was designed by Just Andersen. Andersen began his career designing for Georg Jensen, A. Michelsen and P. Hertz. Inspired by the silversmiths he worked for, Andersen opened Just Andersen Pewter in 1918. The artist is best known for his neoclassic Scandanavian design of household objects in pewter, copper, bronze, brass and most importantly, “Disko”. Disko Metal was Andersen’s own invention—a mixture of lead and antimony. Disko Metal was used to produce “Bronze” items as it was much cheaper than real bronze. Andersen had showrooms in London, Berlin, New York and Los Angeles. Andersen was prolific up until his death in 1943.
This piece would make the perfect gift for a collector or animal lover! The piece has no visible wear and is in fantastic condition—the pewter/patina have aged well and truly resemble bronze…just like Just intended! The piece weighs 1.75 pounds and measures three inches tall by five inches wide.
