Rare, Spanish Colonial Figural Group of the Holy Family

A fabulous carved and painted Spanish-Colonial period figural group of Joseph, Mary, and the Christ child mounted on a wood base. This is definitely not your average 'santos' figure! The bodies of Mary and Joseph are carved and painted wood and both figures' hands and heads are carved bone. The source of the hair I believe is human. The child Jesus is all carved bone, and his hands are clasped holding the Sacred Heart. The group was made in the 18th c. and probably originated in the the Philippines.
