19TH CENTURY CHINESE BUDDHIST ALTAR SHRINE

Monumental Chinese carved temple shaped altar piece featuring a pagoda top and finished in red lacquer and gilt. Exquisitely carved ancestral shrine or Buddhist altar for Butsudan. Two smaller pagodas on carved gilt bell tower columns flank the sides of the temple entrance. The shrine sits on an ornately carved base with ball and claw feet attached to a box stretcher. Several losses to carved panels and age appropriate wear. Disassembles for moving. Beautiful piece with large display area.
