Marcel Breuer's Wassily Chair

The Wassily Chair was designed by Marcel Breuer 1925-26 while he was the head of cabinetmaking at the Bauhaus in Dessau (Germany).
In the 1960ties the chair was produced by the Italian company Gavina, located in Bologna. 1968 Knoll bought the Gavina group. Knoll produces the Wassily chair until today.
This chair features a tubular chromed steel frame with brown leather upholstery and the designer's signature. The quality control tag underneath the seat indicates that it was produced by Gavina in the 1960ties.
