George II Style Gainsborough Library Chairs

Fabulous pair of library chairs constructed of mahogany and made in the George II taste featuring dramatic splayed cabriole legs and large scrolled feet. Exquisitely hand carved frame with a rare, serpentine form apron on all 4 sides. Constructed with generous proportions these Gainsborough chairs have an assertive stance. Armrest supports are each headed by a shell motif and have padded arms. Made in the manner of Thomas Chippendale. Upholstery in a light, pale brocade material.
