Solid Oak Bench, Architecturally Inspired, France c.1880
Solid Oak Bench, Architecturally Inspired, France c.1880. Stunning long bench in Louis XIV style made of solid oak, with six square baluster legs adjoined by horizonatal stretcher ending in Y form at either end. This long bench was originally constructed for the hallway of a chateau in the Tarn Valley of France where their clean lines complemented early architectural designs. The pale colour and even grain of the oak timber has a rather contemporary effect complemented by the handsome geometric pattern of the fresh upholstery, reminiscent of famous British designer, David Hicks.
