Hearkening back to the early days of furniture design, this sturdy oak piece is a Victorian rendition of an Baroque chair that would have proudly occupied the head of a communal table in a great hall of the 17th century. This mid-19th century version is scaled down while maintaining elaborate carvings and elegant turnings giving it great presence. This piece is not upholstered, only loosely covered with white fabric. Re-upholstery required. Original horsehair and cotton batting fill on seat, original leather on back. Perfectly suited for a statement host chair or for use in an eclectic mix of dining chairs or a stand alone accent.
