French Gilt Wrought Iron Stools, in the Style of Gilbert Poillerat, 20th c.
These upholstered stools rest on heavy wrought iron bases with a scrolled X- stretcher and square legs. The iron is splashed with artfully and intentionally worn gilding. They are in the style of Gilbert Poillerat, a French furniture designer whose work had both calligraphic forms like these bases, and often a bit of medieval feel, as these also have. Made in the 1950's. Great texture and presence.
These are upholstered in a serviceable tweed, but the fabric has a few spots. We considered having them reupholstered in some neutral before putting them up for sale, but these stools will really sing with a bespoke fabric choice for your own particular space.
