A lovely Mid-Century Modern spade shaped pastry server from Cellini Craft. Available as a single pastry server of in a set of six pastry servers, each with spade shape blades and scrolled handles terminating in beaded tendrils 5 inches by 2 1/2 inches wide. Price listed is for one pastry server. Serving area is for approximately 2 1/2 inch pastries. These fine pieces of American Sterling silver flatware are made in Chicago by Cellini Craft Ltd., circa 1945. Cellini Craft was known for its consistent quality in silver and its designs, successfully producing as selling silverware throughout the depression. Ernest Gerlach started the small metal craft shop of Cellini Craft in Evanston, IL, a suburb of Chicago, in 1914, naming his operation after Benvenuto Cellini, the 16th Century Florentine goldsmith and mannerist sculptor. This pastry servers embody some of those early organic and Italian Mannerist designs, those that stand out in the Cellini Craft's history.
