Rare Gorham Sterling Silver Spearing Olive Spoon
This is a stunning and quite rare sterling silver spearing olive spoon, made by Gorham around 1870. It has a beautiful heraldic medallion at its center bearing an interesting design of two reigned horse heads surrounded by foliage. The handle ends in a twisted point for piercing olives and the twisting motif is echoed on the other end, extending into the acid-washed bowl. The bowl is also pierced and decorated with reticulated brite-cut work. This piece is in excellent condition and would add elegance and style to any cocktail bar.
It measures 11 1/2" x 1 1/4". It bears the gorham maker's marks, "STERLING," and the pattern number "265."
