American Sterling Silver Brite Cut Cheese Scoop by George Sharp
Elegant American sterling silver cheese scoop has a brite cut scoop, a twist stem and a ball finial to terminal end. While there is no makers mark, it bears all the styles and workmanship of George Sharp and has been identified as his piece. There is lovely floral brite cut work to the bowl that is showing some wear from use. The handle is twisted up to a ball finial that is brite cut with a geometric pattern. The top of the ball has a fading AMS monogram. It is a lovely stylized cheese scoop.
It measures 9 1/8" long and weighs 1.5 Troy ounces. It is marked "925 STERLING." George B. Sharp, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, circa 1865.
