"Maison Jansen (House of Jansen) was founded in 1880 by Dutch-born Jean-Henri Jansen. Research provides that Maison Jansen historically combined traditional furnishings with the influences of new trends and paid great attention to historical research in their designs by attempting to balance the desires for livable, usable pieces, incorporating such into dramatic space. What is unique to this firm and important to the Mid-Century period is that Maison Jansen was commissioned during the Kennedy White House to design the White House Red Room (American Empire style) and then to redecorate the White House Blue Room (French Empire style) in 1962. The Maison Jansen pieces currently offered by Mid-Century2Moderne offer glimpses into the mixture of both of these styles. Enjoy!"
