Ebonized Teak Chinese Console Table or Desk, Early 20th c.
Striking black table with three drawers and heavy brass hardware. This is evocative of Shanghai in early movies to us. It is built of teak finished in black with some wood showing through in places. The square forms would look right at home among modern pieces; but it could also live happily among antiques.
A perfect hall table, narrow enough to stay out of the way, charismatic enough to make a statement. It is finished on the back too, so it could float in a living room, or work as a dressing table in some bedrooms, as a desk in other rooms. Sturdy enough to withstand a lively family.
