Round French Hunt Table, Drop Leaf Table, 19th Century
A big, round, rustic but refined antique French dining table from the mid to late 1800's. It is made of thick boards of chestnut with a gently waxed old surface. It has two drop leaves. The tapering cylindrical ring-turned legs end in brass caps and casters, all the better to roll this table out for use.
Drop leaves give this table a lot of flexibility. Push it against a wall, then bring it out and open it up when you have guests. Use it in rectangular form under a window in a family room, then open it for games or food. This table is 27" deep when closed.
This is a well-worn old table, with lots of marks of age. It is sturdy and sound. The finish is simply wax - fine for many uses, but if you want to put it to heavy everyday use as a dining table or work table, we can have a tougher finish applied for an additional fee. Our restorer can apply a period appropriate finish if you like.
