Two French Grain Sacks Hemp Linen Blend, Early 20th Century

Two French grain sacks totally handmade from hemp/linen blend circa 1900 – 1920. The blue striped sack has five graduating width naturally dyed indigo strips and is stamped with the initials KH and the number 27. It has a herringbone weave, is a natural oatmeal color, measures 47” x 21” and is very thick and heavy at nearly three pounds. The red striped sack has five stripes and a more open weave and measures 45” x 21”. These grain sacks are twice as long, they are hand-stitched together at the left and right side, and if you open these seams you will get one long piece of antique fabric.

"These sacks make perfect bolster pillows for beds (simply insert king sized pillow), sofa pillows, floor pillows, laundry bag, table runner, bath mat (hemp is naturally mold and mildew resistant), roman shade, hand towels, you name it. They are also perfect for upholstery projects as the fabric is very, very durable. These textiles are machine washable on warm and tumble dry! "
