"Stamping was used in the creation of decorative patterns on the pile of the velvet since no other ornament was needed making it very economical. The pile of solid-colored velvet is crushed with hot metal matrices leaving the desired pattern on the velvet. This is a type of velvet has been manufactured since the sixteenth century and is quite popular even today."
