Large Chinese Embroidery of Dragons - Metallic and Linen Threads
A large, embroidered framed textile of three roiling dragons with marvelous textures: metallic thread for the bodies, matte cotton or linen for the spiraling background, and extra dimensions and detail around the faces. The colors are unusually modern and neutral, though we estimate it was made in the late 19th or early 20th century. Framed, this is about the size of a doorway. The framing is functiona: wood with a gilded inner edge and plexiglas (preferable to glass for a piece this size). You might choose to re-frame it to fit your decor, in which case we can remove it from the frame and ship it FedEx, rather than white glove. Visible dimensions of the textile are 39" x 75/5".
Condition is very good vintage. There are some scratches on the plexiglas a couple inches in from the right side, not very distracting. The embroidery has not been examined outside the frame, but it looks be in very good condition for its age of around a 100 years, with just a little wear on a few of the background swirls and a bit of fraying on some eyes. Overall it is intact.
