1972 Munich Olympics Art Series Original Lithographic Poster by Serge Poliakoff
This rare, original Olympic lithographic poster was commissioned by the Munich Olympic Organizing Committee for the 1972 Games in the late 1960s. It was the last work by Serge Poliakoff before his death in 1969. Born in Moscow, Poliakoff's (1900 - 1969) works are in numerous museums around the world. He became a French citizen in 1962 and resided in France most of his life. He designed the 1972 wine bottle label for Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, one of the many world-famous artists who have been commissioned to illustrate the wines from this famous winery in the Bordeaux region of France.
