"Juno, Ceres, and Psyche" Original Engraving After Raphael, 1503
An original copperplate engraving. a cooperative effort after Raphael (1483-1520) by Marco Dente (1493–1527). Marco Dente was an Italian engraver of the Renaissance. He was also called Marco da Ravenna. He was a pupil of Marcantonio Raimondi. His best works are copies after Baccio Bandinelli, Giulio Romano, Raphael and his master. executed in 1503. This 512 year old engraving "Juno, Ceres, and Psyche", possesses a watermark and Raphael monogram lower left. Other copies of this work can be found in major museums around the world. Size: 10.25" x 8". This engraving is in good condition; wear consistent with age, please analyze pictures.
Raphael became Perugino's apprentice in 1504. Living in Florence from 1504 to 1507, he began painting a series of "Madonnas." In Rome from 1509 to 1511, he painted the Stanza della Segnatura ("Room of the Signatura") frescoes located in the Palace of the Vatican. He later painted another fresco cycle for the Vatican, in the Stanza d'Eliodoro ("Room of Heliodorus"). In 1514, Pope Julius II hired Raphael as his chief architect. Around the same time, he completed his last work in his series of the "Madonnas," an oil painting called the Sistine Madonna. Raphael died in Rome on April 6, 1520.
