Engraved by French engraver Francois-Nicolas-Barthelemy Dequevauviller (1745-1807). Published and printed in 1786. The National Portrait Gallery in London possesses an example of this work within their permanent collection. Sheet size: 12" x 9". Image size: 9.25" x 7". Excellent condition.
Antoine Borel, born in Paris in 1743 and died in 1810 , is a painter , draftsman and engraver French. The son of a portrait painter , he first devoted himself to the same kind of paint, then gave preference to the representation, often in watercolor , matters of morals and political allegories, he sometimes engraved itself, the tip or mezzotint . Finally, it became almost exclusively designer labels, and made himself a name. If, in this specialty, he put many times his talent to erotic books, he also made many compositions for serious works, including Plutarch (1783), the Greek Theatre (1785-1789), the Works Belloy (1787), Charles IX, tragedy Chenier (1790); the works of Regnard (1790).

Francois-Nicolas-Barthelemy Dequevauviller (1745-1807) was a French engraver. His engravings can be found in private and public collections around the world including the National Portrait Gallery in London and the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
