"Cash Dance" Lithograph by Kostabi
This limited edition serigraph is by the important American artist, Mark Kostabi (b. 1960), who became a leading figure in New York's East Village art scene during the mid-1980s along with other luminaries like Keith Herring. Kostabi's work is in the permanent collections of some of the world's most prominent collections including the Museum of Modern Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Guggenheim Museum, and the National Gallery in Washington D.C. amongst many others. "Cash Dance" may be seen as an allegory of greed. It features Kostabi's signature figures encircling a cash register while simultaneously grabbing bills and each other. The work is numbered 55/56, signed and dated, "Kostabi 1990." The serigraph was recently reframed in gold-toned wood.
