Andy Warhol, Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, Signed Screenprint on Lennox Museum Board
Andy Warhol, founder of the Pop Art movement, is one of the most influential and well-known artists of the twentieth century. Some of his most famous works are portraits of celebrities using blocks of bright, neon colors. Here we see Queen Beatrix of the Netherlands, who reigned from 1980 until 2013, dressed in royal regalia. She is highlighted with reds and purples against a yellow background, with wispy outlines of blue. This is a screenprint on Lennox Museum Board, signed and numbered in pencil on the lower right. It is in a hand-carved black and gold frame with a beige mat and gold bevel.
