Victor Vasarely, Composition Silver, Serigraph

Sold

The mesmerizing pattern in Composition Silver is typical of Victor Vasarely; using a combination of simple rectangular shapes and gray scale, he is able to give a sense of dimensions to this two-dimensional surface. Considered the father of Optical Art, also known as Op Art, Victor Vasarely (1908-1997) was trained as a graphic artist in his native Hungary until he emigrated to Paris in 1930. From there he developed his signature style, geometric abstract compositions that use a minimal number of forms and colors. In this serigraph, the geometric shape is on a silver background, and framed in black wood with a white mat. It is signed and numbered in pencil, edition: 89/250.
